The purpose-built facility includes a seven bed ED and 17 Bed inpatient ward (Medical and AT&R). The Hāwera Emergency Department provides a 24-hour service for the 30,000 population of South Taranaki and sees approximately 15,000 patients per year. The Hospital has a well-equipped laboratory service and a brand new Siemens machine in the radiology department. In addition, the ED has a state-of-the-art Sonosite LX USS machine available for clinician-performed ultrasounds.
