Librarian

Job Summary:

Job Responsibilities:

1. Organize, maintain, and update library resources and databases.
2. Answer reference questions in person or by phone/email.
3. Assist patrons with locating books, periodicals, videos, etc.
4. Process new library materials for circulation.
5. Monitor library activities to ensure the safety and comfort of patrons.
6. Develop programs such as book clubs or story times for children.
7. Assist in the selection of library materials such as books, audio books, videos, etc.
8. Assist patrons with the use of computers or other electronic equipment for research purposes.
9. Supervise the work of Library Assistants or Clerks.

Qualifications & Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or related field preferred but not required.
2. Previous experience working in a library environment preferred but not required.
3. Excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills (oral & written).
4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others as part of a team.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
6. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed when shelving books or other materials.
