Financial Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Use financial analysis, data trends and market information to anticipate needs, identify operating/financial issues, and recommend actions to maximize financial return.
  2. Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities for department heads.
  3. Analyze ROI for capital projects prior to committing funds and, upon completion, determine if anticipated results were achieved.
  4. Maximize cash flow performance of the hotel through controls on inventory (avoid excessive supply), credit and collection, disbursements, deposits and remittances.
  5. Review rates and recommend rate strategy to the General Manager; participate in sales strategy meetings.
  6. Control all balance sheet accounts by preparation of monthly accounts reconciliation and actions accordingly.
  7. Prepare monthly invoices for other IHG hotels, General Manager, Store and Shop rentals.
  8. Prepare all journal vouchers for month-end closing.
  9. Prepare monthly Financial Statements for distribution to Department Heads and Executives.
  10. Responsible for month-end closing.
  11. Approve various city ledger transactions.
  12. Approve payment requests, employee advances, and petty cash prior to payment.
  13. Prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  14. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
  15. Handle daily financial transactions, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  16. Support the audit process and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  17. Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  3. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  4. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
