JOB SUMMARY:Al Borg Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic health services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Specialist to join our team. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission of improving healthcare outcomes through accurate and efficient laboratory testing.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilitiesThey follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test resultsAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performedFollow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performanceConduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computerSet up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipmentCollect blood from patients, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood sampleResponsible for all quality and safety improvement related to his jobPerform other duties as assigned by lab supervisor and directorRequirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related fieldProven experience working as a Lab Specialist or in a similar roleStrong knowledge of laboratory techniques, protocols, and equipmentExcellent attention to detail and ability to accurately perform laboratory testsSolid understanding of quality control measures and regulatory requirementsExperience in developing and implementing laboratory protocols and guidelinesAbility to train and mentor laboratory staffExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsMust be SCFHS certifiedExperience:Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a laboratory setting is preferredExperience with laboratory information systems (LIS) is a plus
