Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Safety Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in conducting safety audits, preparing health and safety files, creating safety documentation, performing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to promoting workplace safety. Key Responsibilities:- Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Conduct on-site safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with legal and organizational safety standards.
- Compile detailed audit reports with findings and recommended corrective actions.
- Health and Safety Files:
- Prepare comprehensive health and safety files in accordance with project-specific and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for clients and internal use.
- Safety Documentation:
- Develop site-specific safety documentation, including method statements, checklists, and policies.
- Ensure all documents meet applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify and evaluate workplace hazards.
- Recommend effective controls and mitigation measures to reduce risks.
- Client Support:
- Collaborate with clients to address their occupational health and safety needs.
- Provide advice and support on compliance with safety legislation and standards.
- Training and Awareness:
- Assist in delivering basic health and safety training to employees and contractors as needed.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness within client organizations.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Stay updated on changes in occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Ensure that all safety practices are compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
- Education: National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field (e.g., Samtrac, Nebosh).
- Sacpcmp registration would be beneficial.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of applicable safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Experience with safety management systems and documentation is a must.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
