1. Designing and building services that scale for millions of global users.

5. Own the full stack of our products, from design/architecture to implementation and continuous iterative development.

A day in the life

1. Collaborating with project teams across various themes like core platform development, software compliance, and financial optimization.
2. Engaging in technical discussions and brainstorming sessions to devise software strategies.
3. Active participation in our development sprints, reviewing code, and ensuring the implementation of best practices.
4. Interacting with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating them into technical solutions.
5. Mentoring team members (SDE1), providing guidance, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
6. Regularly reviewing and optimizing existing systems and processes for better efficiency and performance.

The Amazon Email Services team sits within Enterprise Engineering and is using AWS technologies to evolve traditional enterprise tools and services. In this role, you'll be working on building the next generation scalable and secure enterprise email ecosystem. This service will be scaled to handle billions of messages per year and will offer the world-class experience to more than one million Amazonians across the globe.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
2. Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
3. Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
2. Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
3. Experience in internet-facing email services e.g. Postfix, Sendmail, Milter / libmilter etc.
4. Experience in Linux based systems or environments.
5. Deep problem-solving skills and ability to resolve ambiguous requirements.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions in a team-based environment.
