Senior Government and Public Sector Technology Advisor

To support the ongoing growth and success of our business we are looking for an experienced consulting or technology leader to join our team in Dublin as a Senior Government and Public Sector Technology Advisor . In this role you will have the opportunity to lead and to collaborate with equally motivated and ambitious colleagues both in Ireland and across our international Government and Public Sector community. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver innovative technology and digital solutions to help public services organisations transform to meet the challenges of today’s economy and society.

Your role as a Senior Technology Advisor will include:

  • Understanding the wider technology market, the key trends and the strategic directions of global and emerging vendors
  • Staying current on economic and societal challenges in Ireland, Government policies and sectoral IT strategies for using technology to address them
  • Developing and managing trusted relationships with senior public sector technology leaders and stakeholders
  • Understanding the strategic objectives of public sector clients and formulating technology solutions to enable the delivery of the desired outcomes
  • Building new technology partnerships in the market and collaborating to develop innovative and differentiated solutions
  • Working with peers across BearingPoint’s international Government & Public Sector and Technology networks to leverage best practices and qualifications for the benefit of Irish clients
  • Owning and leading technology related aspects of proposal development activities in response to Government procurements for solutions and services
  • Acting in a senior advisor role for key Government & Public Sector clients and providing strategic and operational advice to them in relation to both technology and the IT function
  • Contributing to and supporting the implementation of BearingPoint’s Government & Public Sector strategy in Ireland
  • Building and maintaining a strong external profile and representing BearingPoint in the market

Your experience should include:

  • A technology or professional services background and demonstrable interest and understanding of public services and Government organisations
  • A network and senior relationships in the Irish public and private sector and with technology and business service providers in the market
  • An established track record of working on complex IT transformation projects in dynamic environments, managing change, resolving issues and delivering the intended outcomes
  • Deep knowledge and extensive practical experience in advising on and implementing technologies in areas such as:
    • Cloud
    • IT/Cyber Security
    • AI
    • IT Management
    • Integration technologies
    • Agile development
  • A knowledge of some of the following sectors would also be an advantage:
    • Health and social care
    • Housing and environment
    • Transportation and road safety
    • Justice and policing
    • Property assessment and valuation
    • Local government services
    • Climate action and sustainability

You competencies and skills should include:

Advanced capabilities in relation to:
  • Relevant expertise, know-how and understandingin relation to the wider IT market, vendors and specific technologies
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal, including in relation to market research, thought-leadership, proposals and presentations
  • Building and managing relationships with senior technology stakeholders in public sector organisations, with technology partners and within BearingPoint
  • Developing business and proactively identifying new opportunities for BearingPoint’s technology solutions and services, including a strong commercial acumen
  • Sharing knowledge and leveraging information, qualifications and best practices from across our international network, and the market, for the benefit of our clients
In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate strong proficiency in areas including:
  • Managing project and non-project activities and prioritising work across competing demands
  • Problem solving abilities, encompassing all technology aspects, and taking ownership for their resolution
  • Adapting to change in a fast-moving consulting and technology environment
  • Leading and collaborating with different internal teams across our organisation, and with external parties
  • Acting as a role model in the understanding of our business and organisation, building our practice and maintaining our culture
  • Developing your own capabilities proactively through formal and unstructured learning
Our expectation is that suitable candidates will have at least 12-15 years of experience working in a fast-paced environment with a consulting or technology background.
