The GAC Group is an equal opportunity employer. About GAC Marine LLC GAC Marine operates from our fully equipped marine base in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Our comprehensive offshore marine support includes anchor handling, project cargo transportation, platform supply, crew changes and supplies, as well as rig moves and tug & barge operations. Operations are supported by our growing fleet of anchor handling tug supply vessels, anchor handling tugs, crew boats, tow tugs, barges, utility vessels and landing craft. Our expert crew, maintenance and other land-based staff are at hand to facilitate short turn-around times for class surveys, repairs, and maintenance. GAC Marine is looking for the right person to join our team as a Sustainable Procurement Lead to be based at our Abu Dhabi marine base. As the Sustainable Procurement Lead, you will spearhead initiatives to integrate decarbonisation and sustainability strategies into the procurement processes, focusing on supplier engagement and reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions. You will play a key role in driving the organisation's sustainability agenda by ensuring the supply chain aligns with corporate environmental goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Job Description

  • Strategy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement a sustainable procurement strategy aligned with corporate decarbonisation targets. Define and track Scope 3 emissions reduction goals and integrate them into procurement objectives. Identify opportunities for green supply chain innovations and circular economy practices.
  • Supplier Engagement and Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers to assess and improve their environmental performance, focusing on CO2 reduction. Design and execute supplier development programmes to promote sustainability practices, including renewable energy adoption, resource efficiency, and carbon reporting. Lead supplier risk assessments related to environmental impact and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Procurement Process Optimisation: Incorporate sustainability criteria into vendor selection, contract negotiation, and procurement decision-making. Establish KPIs to measure and report on supplier sustainability performance. Develop and implement tools for carbon footprint analysis and reporting within procurement processes.
  • Cross-functional Leadership and Collaboration: Work closely with technical, operations, and compliance teams to align procurement goals with company-wide decarbonisation strategies. Represent the procurement team in sustainability forums and initiatives, both internally and externally. Act as a sustainability advocate, providing training and guidance to internal stakeholders on sustainable procurement practices.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Monitor, analyse, and report on supplier CO2 emissions and sustainability performance. Ensure compliance with relevant environmental laws, standards, and certifications, such as ISO 20400, GHG Protocol, and others. Prepare regular updates and presentations for leadership on progress against sustainability goals.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: 7-9 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles, with at least 3 years focused on sustainability or decarbonisation. Proven track record of driving sustainability initiatives and working with suppliers to improve environmental performance.
  • Skills: Deep understanding of Scope 3 CO2 emissions and strategies for reduction. Strong analytical skills for assessing supplier sustainability data and carbon footprints. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders and drive supplier engagement. Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and certifications (e.g., CDP, SBTi, ISO 14001).
  • Attributes: Strategic thinker with the ability to translate sustainability goals into actionable procurement plans. Collaborative and proactive, with strong project management skills. Passionate about sustainability and committed to driving positive environmental change.
