Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Engineering Manager specializing in System Architecture to lead our architecture team in the design and development of scalable, robust, and high-performance systems. In this position, you will be responsible for setting the system architecture for complex software platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions that align with business objectives. As the Engineering Manager, you will provide both technical leadership and managerial oversight, guiding a team of architects and engineers through system design, integration, and implementation processes.

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Manager, System Architecture, your daily workload might include:

Manage and mentor a team of software engineers and architects to design, develop and maintain system-wide platform features.
Ensure the quality of code and design against the industry’s best practices and highest standards.
Coach and mentor team members on high-level design, architecture, effort sizing, and testing practices.
Give team members feedback on their day-to-day job performance.
Steer the engineers’ individual learning and development plans.
Initiate hiring and the allocation of any resources needed to support the team.
Oversee the execution of the software development process.

Requirements

Our target profile is candidates with:

BS/MS from a top school in Computer Science or any related field.
10 years of software engineering experience in SaaS or large-scale distributed applications.
Previous management experience.
Solid communication skills and the ability to convey technical solutions to management and the engineering team.
Solid experience with multiple programming languages with a demonstrated drive to learn and progress in the technical skill and nuanced art of development.
Proficient understanding of system design and distributed computing principles.
Deep experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Solid understanding of the Scrum agile framework and other software development processes.
