Contemporary Dance Teacher Location: Bloomingdale International School, Vijayawada Position Type: Full-time About Us: Bloomingdale International School is dedicated to fostering a holistic education experience for students, encouraging academic excellence, and nurturing artistic expression. Our vibrant arts program includes contemporary dance as a key component of our curriculum. Job Summary: The Contemporary Dance Teacher will be responsible for instructing students in contemporary dance techniques and choreography. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contemporary dance, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and engage students of various skill levels. Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Teach contemporary dance classes to students of various age groups and skill levels, ensuring that lessons are engaging, educational, and tailored to students’ needs.
- Choreography: Develop and teach original choreography for performances, school events, and competitions. Encourage students to create their own choreography and express their creativity.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the arts department to design and implement a contemporary dance curriculum that aligns with educational standards and fosters students’ growth.
- Student Assessment: Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them improve their technique and performance.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages discipline, respect, and collaboration among students.
- Performance Preparation: Prepare students for performances, including rehearsals, costumes, and stage presence. Coordinate with other faculty and staff for smooth execution of events.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with current trends and developments in contemporary dance. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions as needed.
- Community Engagement: Promote and support the school’s dance program within the community, including organizing and participating in community outreach events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a contemporary dance teacher or performer.
- Strong technical knowledge of contemporary dance techniques and choreography.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for fostering creativity and a positive learning environment.
- Previous experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
