Whole School Counsellors - Al Waha and DQ Campuses - Required for August 2025Closing date of applications: 20th November 2024Start date: 1st August 2025Date Contract Ends: UnknownJob detailsSubject: Whole schoolRole: CounsellorLevel: Ages 4-18 / Whole SchoolCurriculum: English NationalPositions available: 2Contract type: PermanentVacancy type: Full TimeSalary: Teachers Pay Scale plus overseas allowanceRequirements2 or more years experience.The British International School Riyadh (BISR) is an extremely well-regarded not-for-profit, co-educational school in the Middle East, catering for students aged 3-18 across its existing five campuses, providing high quality education to the expatriate community since 1979.We are seeking lively, dynamic School Counsellors for our Al Waha and DQ campuses to join our Student Services Department which consists of hard working and well-motivated professionals who work cooperatively and imaginatively to support our students. We have two positions available, one for the Al Waha campus and one for the DQ campus.Through a range of therapeutic interventions, provide high quality support for students of all ages who are experiencing problems, with the aim of managing and enhancing their emotional well-being.Provide support, guidance and advice to families, teachers and the school with the aim of promoting well-being for individuals and the wider BISR community.Show understanding of, or a sensitivity to, working within a Middle-Eastern setting and the current issues facing school-aged students.Work with young people to improve their emotional well-being and resilience and be aware of common issues faced by this age group.Be professionally registered by a counselling or psychotherapy body and work to their ethical guidelines, including the responsibility to access clinical supervision.Have proven experience in working with children and young people in a school setting.Have excellent interpersonal skills, high levels of emotional intelligence and a good sense of humour, effectively collaborating within a range of teams.Fully support the school Mission, Vision and Motto.Go the extra mile for students, contributing to the wider life of the school, including the broad co-curricular programme and community events.Hold an appropriate UK or UK recognised qualification.Experience of counselling students across the age range would be an advantage.Closing date for all applications: Wednesday 20 November 2024BISR believes very strongly in the role of the school in safeguarding children and young people.
