تفاصيل الوظيفة

Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited Hong Kong SAR On-site Full Time 3 year or below Entry level Organisation background : Centre for Eye and Vision Research Limited (CEVR) is a research collaboration between The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the University of Waterloo (UW) in Canada. It will be located at the Hong Kong Science Park, New Territories, Hong Kong. It will be the first global hub performing ground-breaking research in five key areas – myopia and eye growth, ocular drug discovery and delivery, vision enhancement, tear film and ocular surface and advanced optometric technology. The mission of CEVR is to generate technologies to prevent vision loss in the aging population and preserve healthy vision. Amblyopia is a neurodevelopmental disorder of vision that is often considered to be untreatable in adulthood due to a lack of visual cortex neuroplasticity in the mature brain. Recent evidence suggests that providing a clear image to the retina of the amblyopic eye using spectacles or contact lenses can cause a gradual improvement in monocular and binocular vision in adult patients. The aim of this study is to test this potential treatment approach for adults with amblyopia within a randomized clinical trial design. Functional and structural MRI will be used to explore the neural mechanisms that underpin the improvements in vision. Required skills and job duty : The appointees will assist the project leaders in the research project: “Recovering vision in amblyopia.” The tasks include project development, study design/protocol, ethics applications, experimental setup, data collection, data analysis and preparation of manuscript. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in one or more of the following areas: clinical assessment of vision, psychophysics, programming, MRI, randomized clinical trials, statistical analysis. Qualification Applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellow posts should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in Vision Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Optometry, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation or other related disciplines. Applicants for the Research Associate posts should have a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the said disciplines. Applicants for the Research Assistant posts should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification in one of the said disciplines. The appointees shall be working in Hong Kong. Overseas graduates are welcome to apply; the qualification awarding institution should be among the top 100 institutions for STEM-related subjects in QS/Shanghai Jiao Tong Uni/Times Higher Education world university rankings. Enquiry Applicants may contact Prof. Carly Lam (carly.lam@polyu.edu.hk) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University or Prof. Ben Thompson (ben.thompson@uwaterloo.ca) of the University of Waterloo for enquiry. Remuneration A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Applicants are invited to send their CV and expected salary to the email career@cevr.hk.
