ASMO is a groundbreaking joint venture between DHL and Aramco. Inheriting DHL's logistics excellence and Aramco's extensive supply chain ecosystem, we are setting a new benchmark to redefine the procurement and supply chain landscape, enabling growth. ASMO aims to be operational in 2025, offering reliable end-to-end integrated procurement and supply chain services for companies across the industrial, energy, chemical, and petrochemical sectors. Our initial focus is on serving Saudi Aramco and its affiliates, with plans to expand across Saudi Arabia and the MENA region in the long term. We are looking for a highly experienced and strategically-minded Business Development Director. This role will involve developing and implementing short- to mid-term strategic plans for the department. It is crucial for ensuring that our business development initiatives align with ASMO's strategic priorities and broader corporate goals. Objective: As a Business Development Director, your primary responsibilities will include driving ASMO's strategic growth, expanding into new markets, and cultivating strong customer relationships. You will lead initiatives that align with our corporate strategies and deliver on financial objectives. You must be a self-starter who can take the lead in closing contracts while positioning ASMO as a leader in the procurement and supply chain services industry. General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with ASMO's corporate strategies.
  • Take a proactive approach in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, acting as a self-starter who can independently drive the process from initial contact to contract closure.
  • Create annual business plans to ensure financial and strategic objectives are met.
  • Report on the progress of business development activities, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and required mitigations.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to align strategies with ASMO's value leadership vision.
  • Lead business development strategies that drive net growth and profitability.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and new opportunities within the energy, petrochemical, chemical, and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and present compelling new business proposals, taking ownership of the negotiation and contract finalization stages to secure deals.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to support growth.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to generate new business opportunities.
  • Oversee departmental performance, ensure optimal resource utilization, and continuously improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement change initiatives to maintain competitiveness in the market.
  • Mentor and guide a high-performing business development team to meet objectives.
Qualification: The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving people's lives, extremely focused on excellence, and strongly aligned with our core values: bold, focused, agile, and collaborative. The candidate should possess the following qualifications.
  • Educational Background : Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's will be a plus).
  • Experience : At least 13 years of experience in a related field, with a minimum of 7 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Business Development Expertise : Proven success in business development and driving revenue growth, with a track record in closing deals.
  • Sales Leadership : Experience in B2B or B2C sales, account management, or sales leadership roles.
  • Strategic Thinking : Ability to identify new opportunities and execute growth initiatives.
  • Relationship Management : Strong interpersonal skills for cultivating and managing customer relationships.
  • Communication : Proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Financial Acumen : Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and risk management.
  • Independence and Collaboration : Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, adapting to a fast-paced work culture.
  • High Integrity : Professional ethics with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strategic Leadership: Strong organizational skills with sound judgment and attention to detail. Proven ability to execute strategic initiatives and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Resilience: Ability to stay focused and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Financial Expertise: Extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, risk management, and business case development.
  • Business Acumen: Skilled in customer profitability analysis, investment management, compliance, and finance IT systems.
  • Influence and Negotiation: Strong skills in influencing, negotiation, presentation, and people management.
  • Proven Success: Track record of successful investments and driving profitable growth.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas.
  • Team Player: Capable of working independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong grasp of data-driven decision-making.
  • Integrity: High professional ethics and discretion in managing sensitive information.
