The Corporate Tax department is responsible for all corporate income and indirect (transactional) tax matters within DHL Group. Global responsibilities are addressed by International Taxes and Indirect Taxes, whereas regional responsibilities are organized by area, led by Regional Heads. As part of DPDHL, you will be working with a global network of Corporate Tax colleagues and benefit from a wide range of development opportunities. We are looking for an immediate, full-time, permanent position in APAC at Karachi, Pakistan. Job Purpose: Lead the Tax sub-function for the country and provide input to and lead the implementation of sub-functional strategy to maintain effective tax rates, minimize tax risk, and improve cash flow in line with business objectives, group policies, regulations, and compliance requirements. Your tasks:
- Define the country’s Tax strategy including aspects such as tax planning & compliance, accounting, strategic support, acquisition due diligence, and audit considering business objectives, group policies, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Translate Finance strategy into operational plans, measures, and budgets to achieve defined results for the country’s Tax sub-function.
- Plan, organize, and monitor sub-functional activities and take decisions in line with DPDHL protocols and standards.
- Direct, guide, and review preparation of interim and annual tax provisions and footnote disclosures, and the country’s tax return compliance, including transfer pricing documentation for intercompany transactions.
- Identify, analyze, and implement prudent Tax planning strategies for the country, including tax risks, structuring alternatives, transfer pricing scenarios, and M&A.
- Lead audit resolution for federal and state income tax audits and negotiate with tax authorities to settle audits efficiently and favorably.
- Advise on, anticipate, and resolve escalated Tax-related issues and risks for the country.
- Introduce and steer innovation across the country’s tax sub-function, increasing effectiveness and efficiency and approving new risk processes, systems, standards, and policies.
- Improve, change, or adapt finance processes, systems, and services, especially regarding standard tax processes and best practices in tax accounting, compliance, and planning.
- Negotiate and influence business decisions with clients/customers and partially define relevant terms and conditions for the Finance Information Management sub-function in line with Group/Division standards and guidelines.
- Drive targeted training measures on relevant tax topics throughout the country.
- Represent the sub-region externally to the country’s tax authorities, maintaining and building relationships with external income tax audit bodies.
- Master's degree
- More than 8 years
- Expert knowledge of Pakistan tax law (Income tax and GST).
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
