Finance Officer - Financial Accounting

About the roleAs a Finance Officer, you must maintain accurate, complete, reliable accounting information complying with existing QR Groups, accounting policies, and International Financial Reporting Standards to meet the timely reporting needs of the Group.Accountabilities:Prepare and monitor month-end/year-end accounting closing timeline by interacting with management, other departments, external/internal auditors, and other key stakeholders.Monthly review of the balance sheet and summarize the review points for management with an action plan to resolve.Guide other accounting staff by answering questions for proper accounting of transactions.Prepare and update the company finance policy manual, internal accounting procedures, and suggest improvements.Ensure compliance with international accounting standards related to overall accounting and reporting. Prepare financial data for local authorities to meet compliance requirements.Perform fixed assets related tasks as assigned.Maintain the company chart of accounts.Preparation of reconciliations and schedules on a monthly basis for internal review and yearly for audit purposes.Liaise with external auditors during the annual closing of financials.Perform other departmental duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the department.QualificationsAbout youHigh School Qualification / Vocational Qualification / Diploma or Equivalent (Type of Diploma Based on Role) with minimum 4 years of job-related experience ORBachelor's Degree or Equivalent with minimum 3 years of job-related experience.Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.Proven analytical skills.Knowledge of Oracle financials and computer skills including MS Excel and MS Word.Ability to prepare financial statements independently.PreferredCPA/CA/ACCA.MBA from a recognized university.Accounting/audit background in Big 4 or similar accounting firms.Airline background with similar experience.Knowledge of IAS/IFRS.Accounting expertise with IAS/IFRS knowledge and able to apply and communicate correctly.Application GuidelinesEmployees must submit applications through the internal vacancies portal (via GEMS) only.Please see below for all eligibility and requirements for internal applications and note that any applications not meeting the criteria will not be processed.All internal candidates can only have three active applications at any point in time.All internal candidates must have completed a minimum of 10 months in their current role in order to apply for a new role.All internal candidates with an active final warning letter will be automatically disqualified from the recruitment process.If you are a Deck Crew (Qatar Airways & Qatar Executive) candidate, you would require a NOC to apply for this role.
