What you'll do As well as completing the industrial training component of your degree, you will be working on real projects with real responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to develop to your full potential and beyond, alongside owners of the business whilst experiencing the variety and diversity of consulting engineering, alongside owners of our business. Through this experience, you will learn to do the following:
  • Design of structures as part of a broader team within the Built Environment: Hospitals, Education Facilities, Sporting Facilities, Commercial Mixed Use Developments - focusing on elemental design to begin with.
  • Exposure to the design of structures across all materials Post-Tensioned Concrete, Steel, and Timber.
  • Participate in site investigations under the supervision and guidance of an experienced engineer.
  • Learn the structural design process from concept through to the construction stage.
  • Exposure to structural computational models using software such as ETABS RAPT and Spacegass.
  • Learn how to carry out structural calculations, and prepare drawings providing solutions to design issues.
  • Work on multi-disciplinary design projects liaising with Civil, Sustainability, and Building Services teams.
  • Contribute to quantifying and reducing embodied carbon in structural designs.
