Advancing our technology capabilities is vital to National Grid’s ability to realise our vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future. Our IT & Digital function is partnering with our business and using new technologies to help improve how we do our job – through cloud computing, artificial intelligence or machine learning, to name just a few. We provide excellence in IT infrastructure and digital capabilities while delivering secure, reliable, and agile technology. This role gives the graduate the chance to work on their networking/communication skills because it involves collaboration with immediate team members, cross-functional stakeholders, and influences at all levels of the organisation. Some of your accountabilities will include:- Creating our Digital Platforms Infrastructure Technology (DPIT) Bi-Weekly newsletter, including the design, researching to find valuable news stories across DPIT and distribution.
- Maintaining the DPIT SharePoint site, and working with the leads to ensure that their data is up to date.
- Supporting our engagement team, tasks including, the creation of and presenting our quarterly happy hours to improve employee engagement.
- Supporting our UK DPIT events (including 2 charity events a year and our leadership events).
- Involved in various resource and workforce management activities.
Our Graduate Programme
As you’ll be joining our 18-month graduate programme, you’ll have a tailored development pathway to support you as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills. You’ll attend in-person and virtual development sessions throughout your programme to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid. We’re committed to the personal development of our colleagues so as well as the support from your line manager as you navigate your new role, you’ll also have access to 121 coaching and a mentor, from a previous cohort to help you transition from campus to corporate life. All graduates complete the core development programme to develop key skills such as how to make an impact, giving feedback and presentation skills. Aligned to our IT & Digital pathway you’ll develop your IT technical skills including AGILE and Scrum. You’ll also gain important insights into engineering and electricity to help broaden your understanding of our business and industry. We believe in the importance of getting as much on-the-job experience as possible and to do this, you will complete three 6-month placements, across the UK, designed to deepen your understanding of your speciality and to also broaden your knowledge of our business. At the end of your 18-month programme, you’ll return to your initial placement area to kickstart your superpowered career.What you'll need to apply
- You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Computing, IT, Business or Economics degree discipline. It doesn’t matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting.
- You’ll need the flexibility to travel within the role and throughout your rotations as required.
- To be eligible to apply for this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they will have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme. Location
This role is based in Warwick offering flexible hybrid working, where possible.What you’ll get in return
