About the role We are looking for an experienced leader to be our next General Manager for Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability (MHAID). Reporting to our Executive Director MHAID, this very broad role leads a team of multidisciplinary leaders, service managers, and specialists across our geographically and demographically diverse region. This is a tangible opportunity to make a real difference in key areas of health service design and delivery. About the Team/Service/Location Te Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities. About you You will be a credible and experienced senior leader who knows what great looks like. You bring an absolute commitment to lifting capability and performance in key areas for the improved outcomes of patients and whanau in our Mental Health Services and supporting the wellbeing of our staff. You demonstrate positive leadership, sound judgment, and decision-making at all times, and will always lead by example and work side by side with your stakeholders and colleagues in direction setting, system, and service development. To be considered for this position it is essential that you:

• Demonstrate high levels of strategic and operational leadership and intellectual bandwidth.
• Are known as a resilient and visionary leader among your peers.
• Have a track record of ownership and accountability in programme and change management, and quality improvement.
• Know how to get the best from dispersed teams and manage through others.
• Bring drive and tenacity for performance excellence and improved measurable results.
• Have strong financial acumen, including the ability to build strong business cases based on evidence and analysis and the ability to manage a large operational budget.
• Are an exemplary relationship builder with a positive, solutions-oriented outlook.
• Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
• Have experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
