General Manager Dunedin, Surgical Services and Radiology at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

About the role Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, this broad role leads a team of multidisciplinary leaders, service managers, and specialists across Dunedin Hospital. This is a tangible opportunity to make a real difference in key areas of health service design and delivery. About you You are a credible and experienced senior leader who knows what great looks like. You bring an absolute commitment to lifting capability and performance in key areas for the improved outcomes of patients and whānau in the areas of Surgical Services and Radiology. You demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making at all times and will always lead by example and work side by side with your stakeholders and colleagues in direction setting and in pursuit of targets that make a real difference. To be considered for this position, it is essential that you:
  • Demonstrate high levels of strategic and operational leadership and intellectual bandwidth
  • Are known as a resilient and visionary leader among your peers
  • Have a track record of ownership and accountability in programme and change management
  • Know how to get the best from dispersed teams and manage through others
  • Bring drive and tenacity for performance excellence and improved measurable results
  • Have strong financial acumen, including the ability to build strong business cases based on evidence and analysis, and the ability to manage a large operational budget
  • Are an exemplary relationship builder with organisational nous
  • Have health experience and/or clinical background beneficial but not essential
  • Have competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Have experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
