Senior Designer / Design Director

Are you a Senior Designer looking to step up to Design Director level? Would you love to work in a small, yet strategic FMCG packaging design studio? Join this excellent agency who works across brand, strategy and FMCG and help to grow and lead a team. This role is for a design leader, who is self-assured with their design abilities and leadership skills. Working with this indie design studio at their central Auckland location – you will be a positive person, along with the perfect mix of logical and creative qualities. In this role you will support the Director and run the design team in Auckland. You will have experience with or be happy to step up and lead the studio team, working on creative pitches and client presentations. You will work to ensure that ideas, vision, and direction are realised. You will be an interface between the Director and NZ teams representing both in conversation and direction. You can lead by example, by working directly on projects to the highest standard, and creatively in major client presentations. You will direct the team to brief and oversee external creative partners – copywriters, photographers, illustrators, typographers, and others. You will always champion creativity and ensure you have a full understanding of the brief, brand, and target audience. You can conduct visual research and develop creative ideas that answer the brief. You regularly display the skill to turn ideas into visual expressions that best evoke the desired feeling or emotions. You can push the boundaries of design solutions in line with current trends and the global creative landscape, making sure these still feel on-brand and deliver successfully to the brief. Expanding ideas into brand world applications that bring creative thinking to life. Craftsmanship is key – you can convert ideas to concepts and design solutions and select the most appropriate way to visualise and present them. You regularly articulate the message behind the design solutions and ensure all design elements are uniquely created in a high standard of excellence. You will support the CD to develop, craft and implement design solutions across required applications. You will be a confident and articulate presenter – happy to be client facing and an enthusiastic participant in key meetings.
