Details about the broader Clinical Educator programme at RCSI can be found here Objective: The principal objective of the post is to participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examinations of the undergraduate teaching programme. (subject to some terms and conditions further information available from HR) Contract: This appointment is available for a period of one year initially, with scope for renewal subject to performance or pursuance of a higher degree with RCSI while in the post. Salary: Level of appointment will depend on the successful candidates' previous experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Delivery, assessment and ongoing improvement of small group simulation teaching in clinical microbiology Delivery and assessment of clinical microbiology teaching in the School of Medicine Participation in curriculum development including case development and spiraling of clinical microbiology materials throughout the undergraduate medicine programme in the School of Medicine. Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to. Complying with statutory legislation and other guidelines for the candidate's own and general staff welfare and safety. Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required and as agreed. Representing the best interests of the RCSI at all times. Other responsibilities include: Conducting Research; Outcomes to be defined with head of department Performing Clinical Work on-site in RCSI Teaching Hospitals; Detail and commitment to be defined with head of department Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety Always representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time Candidate Specification: Essential The successful candidate should: Be medically qualified Possess evidence of registration with the Irish Medical Council Possess MRCPI or equivilant Possess a keen interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduate students Possess excellent communication skills Desirable It would be advantageous if the successful candidate had: Previous experience in clinical microbiology Previous experience using E-learning/VLE systems Previous experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment Previous experience in research Application Process Please apply online through with your CV and covering letter no later than January 28th 2025.
