Job Summary This position is under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist.The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing nutrition care and education to patients and/or caregiver(s). Evaluates patients' nutritional status, develop and implement care plans, assess nutrient requirements, recommends nutrition prescriptions, evaluates patient tolerance and effectiveness, as well as communicates information to physicians and other health care professionals. Accountabilities
- Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy to patients according to established policies and procedures. - 30%
- Monitors patients receiving nutrition support . - 25%
- Provide nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff and community partners. - 15%
- Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic and food service interns and/or clinical research. - 15%
- Participates and serves on interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees and/or discharge planning. - 10%
- Assist with performance and quality improvement projects. - 5%
- Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Registration
- South Carolina Dietetics License
- Maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years
- Ability to interpret data, teach, communicate to other healthcare professionals, manipulate numbers and write in medical record
- Inpatient, outpatient or community healthcare experience (PREFERRED)
- Knowledge of AND, Joint Commission, Department of Health and Environmental Control and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (PREFERRED)
