Construction Painting & Corrosion Inspector

Job Title: Construction Painting & Corrosion Inspector Reference: PIR 435503330 Project: Ras Laffan 4355, Qatar Job Location: Ras Laffan 4355, Qatar Starting date: 15 August 2024 Hours/rotation: Rotation of 60 days on site and 10 days off (paid) & 2 days traveling (paid) Salary range: Excellent salary package with benefits Single Status. Accommodation provided by the company. Transportation provided by the company. Round trip ticket on each rotation (Economy class). This position is to support Tecnimont's EPC project (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) in Ras Laffan, Qatar, as part of the integrated polymers complex (a Joint Venture composed of QatarEnergy and Chevron Phillips Chemical). The Prefabrication Painting & Corrosion Inspector (PCI) verifies that the painting cycles have been correctly performed according to the painting specifications prepared by the relevant engineering department and the inspection test plans. Duties and responsibilities
  1. To check that painting products respect the requirements of painting specifications.
  2. To participate in trial tests (Mock-Up) and subsequent inspection for various painting systems according to the painting specification and the Inspection Test Plan.
  3. To participate in the Subcontractor painter qualification process.
  4. To check that painting products are preserved according to the requirements of painting specifications.
  5. To check the application process, in particular the following phases:
    1. Surface preparation
    2. Residual salts and dust
    3. Surface profile
    4. Application process including stripe and full coating.
    5. Overcoating and curing time
    6. Dry film thickness per each layer and as total
    7. Adhesion test
  6. To countersign the Inspection QC forms.
  7. To obtain any necessary approval for changing, as appropriate, painting procedures and for performing repairs requiring special procedures.
Person Specification Knowledge & Qualifications University degree or diploma in relevant discipline or equivalent. Experience
  • Significant experience in the industrial construction of large or XL gas plants.
  • Covered a similar role in at least 2-3 projects of comparable size.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working on the Contractor side.

  • Team-oriented skills, self-motivation, and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
