Main Campus - 1272 Garrison Drive, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States of AmericaJOB TITLE: Bone Densitometry Radiology Technologist (DEXA)GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for taking DEXA radiological exams and related duties.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Internal Medicine Dept. Manager.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Prepares patients for radiology procedures. Takes radiographs following established procedures for patient care and safety. Maintains high quality/quantity standards.Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. Complies with all policies regarding safety, infection control and universal precautions.Prepares DEXA reports and gives them to the appropriate physician.Ensures equipment is in working order and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.Logs radiology procedures completed and processes related documentation.Maintains examination rooms, stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies, and performs light cleaning on equipment.Applicant may be asked to cross-train in other specialty areas.Basic phone, computer, and copier skills required. Some patient scheduling may be required.Maintains certifications and keeps in good standing. Also, keeps continuing education credits current.The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for the job position.EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited x-ray technician programEXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year customer service experience, preferably in a health care setting.REQUIREMENTS: Current Limited X-ray license OR Current Bone Densitometry Operator LicenseKNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of x-ray procedures and protocols.Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform DEXA x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.Knowledge of the DEXA radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.SKILLS:Skill in positioning patients properly.Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.ABILITIES:Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.Ability to communicate clearly.Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and families.ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Exam and treatment rooms. Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to radiology setting.PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Standing 4-6 hours/day, walking, stooping, bending.
