Position: Sous Chef Location: Taman Tasek, Johor Salary Range: RM3,500 – RM5,000 (Based on Experience) Employment Type: Full-Time About Us We are a Western restaurant in Taman Tasek, Johor, specializing in high-quality steaks and classic Western dishes. Set to open in May 2025 , we are dedicated to providing a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional dining experience. As we prepare for our launch, we are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join us during the pre-opening phase to develop our menu and recipes, and later lead our kitchen operations when we open. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the restaurant owner to develop and finalize recipes.
  • Plan portion sizes, plating standards, and conduct menu testing.
  • Assist with sourcing suppliers and organizing kitchen equipment.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to prepare for the restaurant opening.
Post-Opening Phase (from May 2025 onward):
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows.
  • Prepare and cook Western dishes , with a focus on steaks and consistent quality.
  • Lead a small kitchen team of up to 5 staff, fostering teamwork and productivity.
  • Manage stock levels, monitor inventory, and minimize food wastage.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene compliance.
  • Maintain and refine the menu to meet high standards of quality and presentation.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, specializing in Western cuisine and steak preparation.
  • Experience working in a halal kitchen is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Creative and skilled in recipe development and menu planning.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to manage a small kitchen team.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to work independently during the pre-opening phase.
  • Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and/or English.
