Your primary objective will be to ensure that students are not only academically adept but also well-equipped to meet the rigorous demands of AP exams. The position holder will have a profound understanding of the subject matter, demonstrated expertise in innovative instructional methodologies, and a fervent commitment to fostering critical thinking skills in our students.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development:Spearhead the development, refinement, and enrichment of the AP curriculum.Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the subject area.Infuse contemporary content into the curriculum.Craft comprehensive, year-long AP course plans.Collaborate seamlessly with departmental colleagues.Leverage innovative technology and innovative pedagogical approaches.Instructional Delivery:Provide engaging and challenging instruction to students.Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies.Implement project-based learning.Encourage student understanding and application of course concepts.Incorporate formative assessment techniques.Promote self-directed learning.Facilitate student collaboration.Assessment and Evaluation:Implement formative, continuous, and summative assessments.Prepare students for AP exams.Analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions.Support student success through data-driven decision-making.Develop a variety of assessment tools.Encourage self-assessment and reflection.Promote a growth mindset.Instruction and Classroom Management:Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.Foster a culture of respect and academic excellence.Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.Incorporate real-world applications and hands-on activities.Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.Consistently reinforce a positive and respectful classroom culture.Promote student autonomy and responsibility.Cultivate effective communication skills.Implement classroom routines and structures.Provide a supportive learning environment for diverse learners.Professional Development:Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and strategies.Engage in ongoing professional development related to subject matter.Participate in ongoing professional development related to pedagogy.Participate in ongoing professional development related to AP program requirements.Participate in peer observations.Join professional learning communities.Explore innovative teaching practices.Reflect on teaching practices.Mentorship and coaching.Exam Preparation:Design and execute a comprehensive AP exam preparation program.Provide targeted review sessions.Facilitate study resources and materials.Analyze AP exam data to identify trends and areas for improvement.Adjust teaching strategies based on exam data.Offer individualized feedback and support.Conduct mock exam simulations.Collaborate with colleagues for interdisciplinary connections.Stay updated on changes to AP exam formats and content.Offer exam strategies and test-taking skills workshops.Provide ongoing motivation and encouragement.Parent and Stakeholder Communication:Conduct regular parent-teacher conferences.Provide detailed progress reports.Organize informational sessions for parents.Facilitate parent workshops on supporting student success.Create a communication platform for ongoing updates.Collaborate with school leaders.Engage the community in supporting AP initiatives.Promote the value of AP education within the community.Seek parental feedback and involvement.Celebrate student achievements with stakeholders.Address concerns proactively.QualificationsBachelor's degree in the relevant subject area, (master's degree and AP certification preferred).Demonstrated track record of successful teaching experience, with a focus on AP courses.Expertise in and a thorough understanding of College Board AP program requirements.State or provincial certification/licensure for teaching at the secondary level.Proven success in improving student performance on AP exams.
