Job Purpose BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. The Executive Logistics Specialist Advisor is responsible to the RSAF Commander for advising on all Logistic activities, including Engineering, Maintenance and Supply Chain aspects associated with all RSAF in-service and proposed air-systems. The jobholder is required to provide advice at a strategic level to the RSAF Commander and senior RSAF officers. That advice would cover all logistic aspects of in-service or proposed air-systems and encompass the complete Life Cycle of the system. Job Accountabilities
- Responsible to review all logistics related Programme Management material at Commander's level and prepare briefings for the RSAF Commander and his team.
- Responsible for developing strategies to support transformation of the RSAF under the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and to achieve the aims and goals of the KSA 2030 vision.
- Responsible for the development of future support concepts and policies that would maintain and enhance the operational effectiveness of the RSAF.
- Lead a team within the RSAF Commanders office and providing budgetary and line management for company CMS personnel under his delegated authority.
- When directed by RSAF Commander, actively engage with Ministry of Defence (MoD), RSAF HQ Directorates, Operational Bases and the Project Offices to provide advice on RSAF logistics related issues, and develop and encourage open communication.
- To support or participate as a member of various senior stakeholder logistics (Maintenance / Engineering / Supply Chain) committees / boards and generate appropriate reporting and recommendations within his area of expertise.
- To support the RSAF Commander to ensure the correct and timely reporting of all RSAF platforms and logistics matters and conduct detailed analysis to identify systemic issues / trends and improvement opportunities for the Commander's consideration.
- Advise on RSAF platform related Life Cycle issues, and on interventions and mitigating actions that may be required to address any issue or enhance effectiveness of the logistics contribution to overall RSAF effectiveness.
- A Bachelor Degree in an Aero-Science subject (Master's degree desirable).
- Completed a recognized course of training at a military or civilian school in Aeronautical Engineering or related aviation subject.
- Minimum 20-years experience in the aviation industry. 10-years of this 20-year period served in a senior management position, responsible for the management and application of aircraft Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) principles. Senior position would be described as WW/GG11/12 or Wg Cdr/Col or above.
- A retired senior military officer with a business qualification (MBA or BSc/MSc in Engineering Management would be advantageous.
- Extensive Air Sector aviation industry knowledge at a senior level, at a minimum of civilian WW/GG11/12 or military equivalent.
- Working knowledge of BAE Systems Life Cycle Management (LCM), Aeronautical Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support and Training processes.
- Detailed knowledge of aviation, logistics, safety, quality systems, airworthiness, aerospace engineering, aircraft control systems, aircraft avionic systems, manufacturing, project/programme management, systems engineering and aircraft systems integration.
- Understanding of RSAF organisational structure and regulatory frameworks that govern maintenance and airworthiness (GACA, EMARs, UK MAA, EASA, FAA).
- Understanding of RSAF procedures and processes from a working level (RSAF bases) to a strategic level (MoD / RSAF HQ).
- Knowledge and a developed understanding of business practice and principles within KSA and KSA culture.
- Extensive developed knowledge of the aviation industry, particularly in the sustainment of an air-system through maintenance and management procedures.
- Multiple platform domain knowledge, covering at least two of the following types: fighter, bomber, transport, tanker and rotary wing aircraft.
- Fully conversant with ILS concepts and familiar with design procedures and industrial processes. Must have knowledge of general management and aircraft servicing, as well as experience in the management, installation, commissioning and acceptance of projects.
