We are thrilled to work directly alongside Harbinger Law, providing an even more innovative offering.Reporting to BTNS' Partner and Service Line Leader in Assurance and Advisory Services, your role will be responsible for engaging collaboratively to uphold and advance our firm's professional standards. You will lead efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal policies across all engagements. The Senior Manager, Training and Professional Standards has a unique opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of our service delivery and reputation for quality.We will support you to do what you do best every day by offering you:Competitive total rewards package, including salary and incentive programRRSP matchingGenerous paid time off package (vacation, personal, sick, firm holidays, etc.)Wellness allowanceComplimentary on-site gymFree, plentiful parkingDress for your day, including casualGrowth-focused coaching, mentoring, feedback, and growth plan reviewsLearning and professional development opportunities as well as paid professional duesWork-life integration (professional flexibility, working remotely opportunities, compressed work weeks, Employee Family Assistance Program, etc.)Fun at work year-round with firm-sponsored social events, yoga, lunch and learns, registered massage therapy visits, espresso happy hours, free snacks and meals, teambuilding events, therapy dog visit, off-site Staff Day, etc.Your primary responsibilities will include:File quality review for engagements: review of assurance financial statements in accordance with the applicable reporting framework prior to releaseDevelop, update, and communicate internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the firm's System of Quality Management, industry standards, and regulationsTrain new hires on the System of Quality ManagementAssist in performing annual ongoing monitoring and testing of compliance with the Firm's System of Quality ManagementConduct regular reviews to identify areas for improvement in internal controls and processes related to file quality and assurance engagementsAssist in performing annual file level monitoring and compilation and communication of resultsWork closely with People & Culture, Service Line Leaders, and key stakeholders as needed to design, develop, and execute inclusive, high quality, sustainable learning and development programs and solutions for staff at all levels across the FirmDrive relevant Firm focused learning outcomes to meet organizational goals ensuring alignment with career paths, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with external training providers, industry associations, and regulatory bodiesStay current with changes in accounting and auditing standards, legal regulations, and professional ethics.Conduct new hire and current staff training sessions both in person/on site and virtual.Work with Service Line Leader to arrange external sessions undertaken by partners and staff, including sessions organized by Baker Tilly NationalCollaborate with subject matter experts to create content that addresses technical skills, industry knowledge, and professional development needs. Develop and maintain knowledge library for the firm including standardized notes to financial statement and guidance on application of new accounting and assurance pronouncementsAdministrator of Learning Management SystemAssist in coordinating Baker Tilly National peer file reviews and CPA Nova Scotia inspections (occurs every three years)Assist in collating results of reviews and practice inspections and communicating them to professional staffAssist in implementing action plans that may arise from these reviews and inspectionsMaintain Baker Tilly Templates (CaseWare) and assist in rollout of new versionsA successful candidate will have:Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline.Canadian CPA, CA; or internationally trained accountant with primary experience in private enterprises (not IFRS) working towards the Canadian CPA designationMinimum 5 years post CPA/CA qualification experience with technical skills for accounting, auditing, and financial statement disclosuresExperience working in a public accounting firmThorough understanding of Canadian accounting standards, regulations, and ethical guidelinesStrong knowledge of training and development methodologies, adult learning principles, tools, and best practicesStrong project management and organizational skills that make your ability to multi-task and meet deadlines second to noneStrong leadership and written, verbal, and presentation communication skillsEngage from a place of curiosity, listening deeply, creativity, consultation, and deliveryProven experience in designing interactive, effective, and efficient learning experiences to achieve technical and non-technical outcomesExceptional facilitation abilities, including active engagement and the ability to achieve learning outcomes in a wide range of circumstancesStrong technical and analytical skills matched with problem-solving skills and professional judgement to help you find optimal solutions in an efficient mannerCuriosity and an eye for detail that allows you to view challenges from multiple perspectives and enhance clients' knowledge along the waySelf-motivation with an ability to work both independently and in a team environment, including excellent collaboration ability with multiple stakeholdersKey assets include:Experience in learning management system (LMS) implementation and administrationTalentLMS would be idealExperience in CaseWare/CaseViewApplication Information:If you are ready to Be True to yourself while you create great relationships, great conversations, and great futures, we welcome your application to be part of something more.
