Principal Instrumentation Engineer Maintenance & Reliability Location: Limerick, Ireland Employment Type: Full-time, Onsite Main Purpose and Objectives The Principal Instrumentation Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting, directing, and providing subject matter expertise on electrical and instrumentation systems during both the start-up and operational phases of the site. This role ensures the reliability and compliance of instrumentation systems while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The must-haves: Resident in Ireland, with a stamp 4 or EU passport. Open to working full-time onsite in Limerick. You must have an Honours Degree (Level 8) in Engineering to apply. Must have 5+ years of practical Pharmaceutical experience. Fluency in English is essential. Key Responsibilities Instrumentation Ownership Manage and own the site calibration program. Ensure optimal performance of instrumentation equipment, addressing root cause analysis (RCA), safety/quality deviations, equipment upgrades, obsolescence, and mean time between failure (MTBF). Liaise with health and regulatory authorities on relevant matters. Develop, implement, and oversee site calibration strategies. Maintenance & Reliability Provide expert engineering support to maintenance teams and equipment owners. Ensure maintenance programs align with reliable operational standards. Lead equipment reliability improvements, identifying obsolescence and planning proactive replacements. Analyze predictive and condition-based monitoring data to prioritize follow-up actions. Ensure maintenance procedures align with global engineering standards and best practices. Training & Development Deliver training to maintenance personnel on new equipment, methodologies, and techniques. Develop, review, and own departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Continuous Improvement Identify and implement initiatives to enhance the maintenance program for plant reliability. Support the development of calibration standards and measurement uncertainty programs. Conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure GMP compliance. Documentation & Compliance Ensure accurate job plans, data sheets, and data loaders for the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Review and manage critical equipment inventory levels in collaboration with the stores team. Required Qualifications & Experience Essential Education: Honours Level 8 Degree in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent. Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a maintenance/engineering role within the pharmaceutical industry. Residency: Must reside in Ireland with a valid Stamp 4 or EU passport. Skills: Strong expertise in troubleshooting and equipment failure investigation. Familiarity with relevant EU directives (e.g., ATEX) and engineering standards (NSAI, NECI, IEC, ISO, etc.). Proven ability to independently manage projects and systems with excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in GMP compliance and related documentation. Preferred Knowledge of global maintenance processes and procedures. Experience in predictive maintenance technologies and data analysis. Why Join Us?
