Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from. We believe that everyone affected by dying, death and bereavement deserves the best possible experience reflecting what is most important to them. Marie Curie, in partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth, is introducing a new service model aimed at enhancing end-of-life care, with a special focus on identifying patients who are approaching the end of their lives. This innovative service focuses on four key areas:
- Delivering hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families in the Emergency Department.
- Proactively identifying and assisting those nearing the end of life within the acute hospital, ensuring timely transfers to their preferred place of care.
- Offering specialised care within Mount Gould Community Hospital..
- Engaging a dedicated team of volunteers to provide companionship and advance care planning.
- Registered Nurse on NMC Register
- Experience in a relevant care setting, ideally in palliative/End of Life care
- Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them
- Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans alongside other healthcare professionals that meets the complex needs of the person, and those important to them
- Proven understanding of the barriers and enablers to good communication and how challenges can be overcome
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Flexibility to provide care in the area with the most need
- Salary aligned to Agenda for Change £29,970 - £36,483
