The Lighting Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support related to lighting products. This role involves advising clients on the selection of appropriate lighting solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with sales and purchasing teams to source, test, and deliver high-quality lighting products. The Lighting Engineer will also provide product specifications, design support, and troubleshooting for both commercial and residential lighting applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & Consultation:
· Provide expert advice to customers on lighting solutions, including energy-efficient products, LED technology, and appropriate lighting designs for different applications (e.g., commercial, industrial, residential, outdoor).
· Work closely with the sales team to assist in creating product proposals, including providing technical specifications, design layouts, and lighting calculations.
· Assist clients in selecting appropriate lighting products, considering factors such as brightness, color temperature, energy efficiency, and aesthetic requirements.
· Evaluate customer requirements and recommend the most suitable lighting solutions that meet both functional and regulatory standards (e.g., local energy codes, safety standards).
Project Management & Coordination:
· Assist in estimating project costs, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring that project milestones are met on time and within budget.
· Manage lighting projects from initial design to final delivery, including coordinating with internal teams (e.g., procurement, logistics) and external stakeholders (e.g., contractors, suppliers).
· Ensure that all lighting products are delivered according to customer specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
· Provide on-site technical support for installations and troubleshooting, ensuring correct installation and operation of lighting systems.
· Participate in client meetings and presentations to provide detailed technical information and answer questions regarding lighting systems and products.
Regulatory Compliance & Industry Standards:
· Ensure that all lighting products comply with relevant local and international standards, such as QCS, ASHGHAL, IEC, UL, CE, DEKRA and RoHS.
· Stay up to date with changes in energy efficiency regulations, building codes, and sustainability practices that impact lighting solutions.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
· A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or a related field (preferred).
· Previous experience (3-5 years) working as a Lighting Engineer, Lighting Designer, or in a technical sales support role for an electrical trading company or lighting manufacturer.
· Strong knowledge of lighting technologies, including LED, & CFL, as well as controls systems (e.g., dimmers, sensors, smart lighting).
· Experience with lighting design software (e.g., Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD) and proficiency in lighting calculations (e.g., lux level, luminance).
Technical Skills:
· In-depth knowledge of lighting standards and regulations, including energy efficiency and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, Energy Star, IES).
· Familiarity with electrical engineering principles related to power distribution, wiring, circuit design, and energy-saving systems.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings, lighting plans, and schematics.
· Understanding electrical control systems for lighting (e.g., smart lighting, DALI, KNX).
· Proficiency in using software for lighting simulations, including light distribution and illuminance calculations.
Personal Attributes:
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly identifying optimal lighting solutions for specific customer needs.
· Attention to detail and ability to oversee technical aspects of lighting design and product specifications.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are satisfied.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment while providing independent technical expertise.
