Description This is a consulting position in our Internal Consultancy team, which involves engaging in short to medium-term projects to address diverse business challenges and requirements. The role centers around assisting internal clients across multiple business units within Old Mutual Limited. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical expertise, will be responsible for providing support across various tasks, including data system enhancements, data analytics, process automation, software, and IT infrastructure assistance. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with clients, gaining a deep understanding of their needs, collect relevant data and devise practical, effective solutions to address their specific challenges. Key Result Areas: Proactively seeks new knowledge in data analytics and visualisation. Develop and enhance actuarial data generation capability according to business needs. Performs data analysis / investigations to support decision making. Leads the development and implementation of automated workflows and small systems. Maintains accurate documentation of business processes, workflows, and systems. Able to work with large quantities of data easily, build the "Extract-Transform-Load" pipelines and extract key insights from data. Provide on-going support of deployed automated solutions. Translating business challenges into actionable analysis initiatives. Employ methodical and innovative approach to solving data and data system related challenges. Setting up and managing Amazon Web Service infrastructure for hosting web applications. Maintain and enhance internal web-based tools. Resolves systems issues through trouble shooting. Responsible for technical accuracy and implementation of work. Works independently, demonstrating self-reliance. Presents results to stakeholders. Structured documentation of solutions developed and perform handover to clients. Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required: Bachelor's degree, preferably in: Data Science Computer Science Mathematical Statistics Financial Risk Management Actuarial Science Engineering A solid understanding of the insurance industry, its products, and actuarial valuation processes is a distinct advantage. Proficiency in coding and IT systems across various environments is essential. Key skills include (Additional skills, not listed below, will also be taken into consideration): SQL Python JavaScript/Typescript Amazon Web Service Git VBA Microsoft Office Prophet & DCS Quick adaptability to new systems and environments is crucial. Time management and attention to detail. Effective communication within a team setting. At least 6 years' work experience. Experience with a variety of insurance products and systems.
