Job Title: Data Centre Operations Technician Location: Cloghran, Dublin 17 Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 40 hours per week; 12-hour rotating shifts, covering days, nights, and weekends Salary: €47,000 base + 33% shift allowance (Total €62,510) Benefits: Pension Life Cover: 2x base annual salary Sick Pay: 10 days after 6 months; 20 days after 2 years Medical Insurance: Single coverage Job Overview We are seeking a Data Centre Operations Technician to manage and maintain essential systems in a cutting-edge data centre located in Cloghran, Dublin 17. This role is perfect for individuals with technical expertise in areas like IT infrastructure, electrical or mechanical engineering, or technical support, who are looking to build a long-term career in data centre management. As part of our team, you will work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, monitoring critical equipment, addressing system alarms, and ensuring our infrastructure operates at peak performance. In this role, youll apply your problem-solving skills daily, working independently while also collaborating with third-party service providers. Key Responsibilities Technical Inspections: Perform daily inspections on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, UPS, and PDU units, to ensure equipment operates smoothly. Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Carry out scheduled maintenance and respond to technical issues immediately, prioritising based on urgency and operational requirements. Environmental Monitoring: Track data centre environmental conditions and swiftly address any anomalies to maintain safe standards. Vendor Coordination: Work closely with third-party vendors, ensuring all maintenance and repairs adhere to protocols and service agreements. Documentation: Log maintenance activities, meter readings, and generate regular reports on system performance. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor issues on-site, notifying management if performance standards are compromised. Required Skills and Qualifications Technical Training: Completed apprenticeship or equivalent training in a technical field, with 1-2 years of relevant experience in a data centre or similar environment. Electrical Maintenance Skills: Proven ability to operate and maintain high and low-voltage systems, including UPS and PDUs. Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Experience with HVAC and temperature control systems in a data centre, including CRAC and CRAH units. BMS Proficiency: Skilled in operating Building Management System (BMS) software and responding effectively to system alerts. Preventative Maintenance: Demonstrated ability to execute scheduled maintenance tasks to high standards. Physical Readiness: Capable of performing manual tasks and maintaining focus during extended shifts. Documentation Skills: Strong ability to record technical information accurately and follow structured maintenance protocols. Math & Analytical Skills: Competent in basic calculations for reading data points and interpreting meter readings. Microsoft Office Skills: Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook for effective communication, reporting, and recordkeeping.
