What you will do as a Lawyer in the Mergers, Exemptions and Digital Law Unit
- Provide legal (including strategic and legal policy) advice on complex issues relating to the functions and powers of the ACCC under the CCA (including the Australian Consumer Law).
- Conduct legal and related research into complex matters relevant to ACCC responsibilities under relevant legislation.
- Assist with the conduct of investigations and court and tribunal proceedings for the ACCC, including working closely with external lawyers.
- Assist the ACCC in the performance of its dispute resolution functions, draft and / or settle complex court documents (including pleadings and submissions), s 155 notices, s 87B undertakings and other legal documents in support of investigations and litigation.
- Admission as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory, or the ability to become so admitted before commencing in the role.
- Competition law experience, which you might have obtained working in private practice, at a competition regulator, as a judge’s associate or research assistant, in an in-house legal team that deals with competition law, or through post graduate study.
- Experience in competition law litigation.
- Experience in administrative law in the context of regulatory decision making.
- Experience advising in relation to s 50 of the CCA.
- Lawyer 1 (APS5) $91,882 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
- Lawyer 1 (APS6) $95,917 - $107,505 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
- Lawyer 1 (EL1) $119,173 - $148,247 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
