The Smart Systems Engineering Lab at PSU is a leading research lab dedicated to advancing the field of smart systems, robotics, and automation. Our interdisciplinary team of researchers works on cutting-edge projects that have real-world impact across various industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, 5G, Optical Communication, and more.Announcement:We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our dynamic and innovative team at the Smart Systems Engineering Lab at PSU. We are actively seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally talented individual to occupy the position of Postdoctoral Researcher with a specialization in optical communication. The ideal candidate should possess a PhD in Electrical Engineering and showcase a proven track record of working in laboratory settings.Responsibilities:Conduct innovative research in the field of optical communication.Collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary researchers.Publish research findings in reputable journals and conferences.Mentor and supervise junior researchers and graduate students.Contribute to grant proposal writing and project management.Qualifications:A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, majoring in optical communication.Strong background in optical communication in one of the following directions: fiber communication, sensing, FSO, VLC, and underwater communication.Proven technical and hands-on experience in optical lab demonstrations (e.g. laser sources, high-speed modulators, link alignment, channel measurements).Proficiency in programming languages and relevant software tools.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Prior experience with grant writing, project execution, and management.A strong track record of research and publication in top-ranked and peer-reviewed journals and conferences.Exceptional problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.Application Procedure:Interested candidates should ensure the availability of the following documents and submit their application materials through the application form:A cover letter detailing your research interests and relevant experience.Curriculum Vitae (CV), including a list of publications.A summary of your previous grant writing and project management experience.A brief overview of your previous hands-on research work and technical skills.We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply and join our vibrant research community.
