AS06 Information Access Officer

About the role The Information Access Officer assists the Legal Services team through a range of supporting activities to manage requests for information, in particular made pursuant to Chapter 25 of the Children and Young People Act 2008 (‘CYP Act’). Activities can include the retrieval, filing and preparation of documents to facilitate the handling of information requests and litigation. Duties
  • Manage requests for Information made pursuant to Chapter 25 of the Children and Young People Act 2008 (‘CYP Act’) and, in particular, requests made pursuant to s 856C.
  • Undertake thorough search across CSD to retrieve all material relevant to requests for information.
  • Review protected information for the purpose of identifying redactions to the material in accordance with the provisions of the CYP Act and Information Privacy Act 2014 for the Director General to consider when exercising her discretion to release the material to the applicant pursuant to the CYP Act. Keep an accurate record of the review and identified potential redactions with corresponding reasons.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefs to the Director General regarding material that has been requested and reviewed to assist the Director General in exercising her discretion regarding the s 856C request.
  • Demonstrated sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare correspondence and briefs.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality in all aspects of the work and deal sensitively with issues as they arise.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the section and maintain all records in accordance with the Territory Records Act 2002.
