Lead the development and implementation of robust cyber security strategies and policiesManage and monitor the council's digital infrastructure, identifying and addressing security risksProvide expert advice on cyber threats, including web filtering and malware protectionConduct security audits, risk assessments, and investigations into potential security breachesCollaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance the council's cyber defencesEnsure compliance with relevant cyber security standards and frameworksReport regularly to senior leadership on the status of cyber security and recommend improvements

Essential Qualifications and Experience for the Cyber Security Lead:

Degree or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent)Minimum 5 years' experience in ICT Security or technical ICT rolesStrong knowledge of standards such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, and ITILExperience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partnersExpertise in risk management, governance, and incident response

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Experience in security audits, gap analysis, and developing remediation plansProven ability to implement and maintain security compliance across on-premise, cloud, or hybrid infrastructuresCertifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or ITIL
