About the role: Reporting to the Manager Data Strategy, Management and Transformation, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for doing business engagements and requirement gathering for the delivery of priority enhancements and improvements to EPA’s data platforms, data and insights enabled solutions, data and information management initiatives, business processes and overall capability, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities. You will play a strategic role in transforming, curating, and surfacing human readable data, and organising it into tables or structures that enable greater self-service access for EPA staff to source data for reporting and analysis. You will also work closely with stakeholders from across the EPA to elaborate features, define user stories, acceptance criteria and build requirements, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. This is a senior role for an experienced business analyst who wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. Working closely with the Manager Data Strategy, Management and Transformation, you will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity; fostering genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to deliver organisational outcomes In this role you will:
  • As a senior member of the Data Strategy, Management and Transformation team, lead and role model high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; manage the allocated resources, budgets, contribute to business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive culture and the development of staff.
  • Lead data analysis and support, including data cleansing, testing support, defect triage, resolution and business signoffs.
  • Translate a product definition into stories that a team can estimate for and derive a good understanding of how to build; decompose product definitions into a backlog of Features, Epics and User Stories.
  • Engage CDIO and IT units on the delivery of functional enhancements, platform updates and defects that span across data, analytics and Information management platforms.
Skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated experience as Senior Business Analyst working in scaled Agile environment.
  • Experience delivering big data platforms, data sharing, data migration and data transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of Spatial (GIS) and Non-Spatial data platforms including MS Azure Cloud data technologies.
