What We’re Looking For: The Bay Hotel with the majestic Twelve Apostle Mountain range as a backdrop and the Atlantic Ocean less than a minutes’ walk away, in the heart of glitzy Camps Bay has a position for a Head Baker to join their team of extraordinary people. The role of a Head Baker, particularly in a high-end or luxury hospitality setting, demands a unique set of personality traits to ensure excellence in baking and effective leadership, such as attention to detail, leadership and most importantly, passion for what they do! What Is Required: The Head Baker is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bakery operations, ensuring the creation of high-quality baked goods that meet the luxury standards of our establishment. The Head Baker plays a pivotal role in crafting an exceptional culinary experience through the development and execution of innovative and visually stunning baked products. This role involves leading and managing the bakery team, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization, and ensuring that all baking processes adhere to recipes and quality specifications. By combining creativity with precision, the Head Baker contributes to enhancing the overall guest experience, supporting the property’s reputation for excellence, and driving operational success. Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years proven experience in a bakery or similar food production environment.
  • Pastry qualification (advantageous).
  • Excellent baking and pastry making skills, including the ability to develop and innovate steps.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising and training staff.
  • Knowledge of food safety and HACCP.
  • Must have own transport and valid drivers license - non-negotiable.
