1. POSITION VACANT: Business Manager- Optical Services, Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi2. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND:Established in 1914, Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) is one of the oldest and largest eyecare institutions in the country. It is globally respected for the provision of comprehensive eye and ENT care, high-impact work among communities, quality research work and publications, and extensive education and training programmes for the healthcare fraternity.SCEH provides state-of-the-art and comprehensive eyecare services through a team of highly experienced and well-trained physicians, who are deeply committed to patient care.SCEH has completed 100 years of existence and along with its tertiary center in New Delhi, has seven regional surgical hubs across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The organization has a staff and trainee complement of 1,500 persons and performs 50,000 sight-restoring surgeries as well as provides clinical services to 500,000 people across its service footprint, each year.SCEH works on a cross-subsidy model and performs 50% of its surgeries free, or at highly subsidized rates. It works in close partnership with leading international players in community eye health, as well as some of the best-known corporates in India. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:The Business Manager- Optical Services (BM-OS), S/he shall oversee and manage all aspects of optical services within the hospital. S/he will be involved in entrepreneurial thinking, sound understanding of finance and business economics, strategic planning, human resource management, Risk management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality optical services to patients. S/he will also collaborate with various departments to optimize business operations, develop business plans, and enhance the overall patient experience.Key Job Responsibilities:(A) Strategic Planning:(1) Develop and implement a business plan well in advance, short and long-term strategy development for the optical business by seasonal OPD Patient flow. Be a profit center for the hospital while catering at all price points across SCs and VCs. Function in alignment with the hospital's overall goals and objectives;(2) Keeping in view the hospital's fast-expanding outreach through an increasing number of SCs and VCs keeps the business flexible and agile at short notice. Reduce Cycle time from Set-up to self-sufficiency to profitability. To have a pulse of the market and industry, competition, and opportunities for growth in optical services;(B) Financial Management:(1) Prepare and manage Business Plans with a focus on increasing revenue while keeping costs in check, for the optical department, and profitability using Business Economics and Financial management(2) Monitor VC and SC wise financial performance, and self-sufficiency, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions, as necessary;(3) Understand the leverage of the financial variables and optimize(4) Drives sales growth and geographical expansion of the optical function.(C) Supply Chain Management:(1) Based on the geographical sales trends, support the Resourcing head in:(a) Vendor Sourcing;(b) Communicating and negotiating with suppliers and vendors to land more profitable MOUs;(c) Work with vendors who are high on:(i) High on delivery value chain: timing, value adds;(ii) International Brand names;(iii) Fast-growing brands;(iv) Brands who bring value like training and marketing ideas to the table;(2) Provide cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes. (Encompassing the Central Store as well as site stores at different locations);(3) Resolve issues as and when they arise (e.g. delays in delivery, damages, etc.);(4) Maintain inventory as well as records for the same (Frames, lenses, and accessories);(5) Maintain MOQ and ensure the timely replenishment of stocks;(6) Provide constructive feedback to the Secondary Centers and Vision Centers;(7) Enhance speed, communication, consistency, and accuracy in dealing with inquiries at the Secondary Centre, orders, delivery, shipping documentation, and customer complaints.(8) Track Inventory aging and Fast moving items;(D) Operational Oversight:(1) Supervise day-to-day operations of the optical department, including sales, conversion, Turn Around Time, inventory management, product selection, and vendor relationships;(2) Implement efficient processes to optimize workflow and enhance productivity;(3) Document Standard Operating Processes (SOPs) for counter sales and other services to customers, inventory management, finance, payments to vendors, complaints handling, audits, finances, information flows, and technology interventions;(4) Monitoring and Audit of Operations: The BMOS shall also be responsible for monitoring and auditing operations.(E) Staff Management:(1) Recruit, train, and manage optical staff, ensuring a high level of competence and customer service;(2) Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to foster professional development.(F) Quality Assurance:(1) Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in optical care;(2) Implement quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of patient care and satisfaction.(G) Customer Service:(1) Foster a customer-centric culture within the optical department, promoting excellent customer service and patient satisfaction;(2) Address patient concerns and feedback to continuously improve service quality.(H) Marketing and Promotions:(1) Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote optical services and products;(2) Collaborate with the hospital's marketing team to create promotional campaigns and community outreach programs.(I) Technology Integration:Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend the adoption of scalable, tested and dependable new technologies to enhance service delivery.(J) Collaboration:(1) Collaborate with other hospital departments, including ophthalmology, pediatrics, vendors (high in value chain) and administration, to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency;(2) Build relationships with external stakeholders, such as suppliers and insurance providers.Undertake any other task assigned by the management, based on organizational requirements.4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:Qualifications and Experience:(1) Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, and/or other relevant fields;(2) MBA will be given preference;(3) Proven experience in developing a business based on entrepreneurship. At least 15 years in the retail business at a national level role.(4) Have entrepreneurial skills to expand the business, and brand establishment and manage the growth(5) Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial analysis.Essential Skills and Competencies:(1) Strong leadership and team management skills;(2) Excellent communication and negotiation abilities;(3) Entrepreneurial skills to expand the business, establish brands, and manage growth.5.
