Senior Structural Engineer

Job Description

A well-established consulting engineering company has a vacancy for a Senior Structural Engineer in their Secunda Office. Previous working experience in the engineering development, design, and construction of a range of projects in industrial plants (Oil & Gas, Chemical, Mining, and Power Generation Plants) will be an advantage. The main function will be to lead the engineering effort and participate in civil and structural engineering aspects of several small capital expansion and operation support projects simultaneously. The role is central to ensuring the safe, timely, and well-resourced completion of numerous projects in many areas of application. The engineer will be responsible for liaison with clients, planning, management, design development, and construction supervision of projects.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Defining and understanding specific project scope and deliverables, and manage the submission of competitive proposals

Functioning as part of a project team, liaise with other professional team members, other engineering disciplines, and contractors

Coordination and management of the structural engineering design team

Planning and management of the engineering aspects of projects in terms of scope, time, costs, and quality

Prepare Contract administration documentation based on NEC3/ NEC4

Detailed structural analysis and design for both reinforced concrete and structural steel type structures

Review, update, and modification of drawings

Visual inspections and integrity assessments of existing civil and structural components of industrial plants

Technical support during construction

Requirements:

Minimum 8 years' experience in engineering and design of concrete and steel structures

Experience in the Oil & Gas Environment will be an advantage

Solid knowledge and understanding of software like Bentley Microstation and/or AutoCAD, Prokon, and Revit

Must have experience in the design of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures

Experience in leading structural design projects, including resource planning and design time frame estimates

BSc/BEng Degree in Civil Engineering

Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer
