Control Room Engineer

About the Role Position: Control Room Engineer (Power Plant) Location: Alor Gajah, Melaka Employment Type: Permanent Key Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for shift operations duty arrangement and ensure the plant operated according to procedures, Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) and Malaysian Grid Code requirement effectively.
2. Accountable for maximising the operational impact for power plant operations and direct supervision of the Operations Shift Teams.
3. Assist Head of Operations in daily operation planning and reporting including daily availability declaration and gas consumption forecast.
4. Perform daily operation duties of the Power Stations on a shift basis.
5. Assist Shift Charge Engineer with communication with NLDC of TNB and GCC of Petronas Gas.
6. Operate DCS control to coordinate and regulate process variables ensuring safe and efficient operations.
7. Monitor plant systems, record readings, and report necessary information for maintenance.
8. Alert on alarms triggered at the DCS, analyze and take necessary action.
9. Start up and shutdown of generation plant safely as per instructions.
10. Assist in routine plant system testing and prepare operational data for reporting.
11. Monitor operation of main and auxiliary plant and correct defects within defined limits.
12. Assist in identifying operational problems and prepare Permit-to-Work as per standard procedures.
13. Provide leadership in the absence of SCE and ensure Control Room is kept neat and tidy.
14. Comply with SHEQ legal requirements and company policies for safe operations.
15. Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.

• Minimum Education Qualification:

1. Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or
2. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering

• Added advantage:

1. Internal Combustion Engine Engineer Grade 2 (“ICEEG2”)
2. Steam Engine Engineer Grade 2 (“SEDG2”)
3. Authorised Entrant & Standby Person for Confined Space (“AESP”)

• Minimum 6 years of relevant working experience.
• Experience in power plant operations and DCS.
• Knowledgeable in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (“P&ID”).
