Tasks / Responsibilities

• Responsibility to maintain the ship’s technical installations, systems and interior in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and manuals, fully functional and in good condition.
• Ensure that relevant rules and regulations are observed at all times and in the event of deviation, provide detailed information to the Captain in a timely manner.
• Keep records of the repair and maintenance of the ship's equipment.
• Check and record fuel, ballast water and freshwater level daily and enter the values in MX Suite.
• Daily inspection of all technical equipment on board such as propulsion systems, all accessible electrical installations, freshwater system, HVAC installation. Constant monitoring and evaluation of sewage plant and wastewater treatment plant with adjustment of parameters as required and indicated by the manufacturer.
• In coordination with the Captain, assist with the daily administration of all technical matters in the ship MX suite software for maintenance and repair related matters.
• Work according to the applicable local, national and nautical laws and regulations. Additionally, GRC policies and procedures shall be complied with at all times.
• Responsible for safety in his/her area of expertise and as defined in the Nautical Technical Manual. Responsible for the safety and security regulations related to technical installations on board.
• A Walkie-Talkie must be carried at all times. At a sound of alarm, all communications shall be through channel 1 of the Walkie-Talkie unless instructed otherwise.
• The trainee engineer assists the ship’s Captain in ensuring that company policy, regulations and guidelines etc. are carried out.
• Daily upkeeping of Fuel & Lubricating oils Book and Daily Repair Book.
• When and where several Engineers of equal rank are on board simultaneously, the duties and responsibilities shall be split and divided equally.
• Responsible for ordering spare parts, stores, repairs and other services by using the company's compulsory documentation and systems.
• Responsible for implementing bunkering procedures.
• Responsible for monitoring and checking work carried out by sub-contractors or service engineers.
• Preparation of winter repairs and dry-dock work list.
• Communicating repairs to the technical department in the head office.
