Job ID: 2741355 | Amazon Data Services Emirates LLC - Dubai Branch As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from project design inception through site improvement. You will be the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region to design projects that remediate issues found within our data center fleet. You will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to:

1. Hire employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles
2. Manage team and individual performance, including promotions
3. Make trade-offs on competing business needs using high judgement
4. Identify areas of growth for the team, including resource requirements and gaps, and establish a clear growth plan and development strategy for each team member
5. Drive strategic communication and provide a technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned Region
6. Manage up to 10 team members with varying technical experience
7. Find a path forward in difficult situations and handle escalations
8. Make trade-offs: short-term team needs and long-term business needs
9. Ensure clear, concise, and accurate communication (both verbal and written)

Key job responsibilities

1. Establish, create, and/or streamline metrics, development, engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices. Share best practices with peers to drive efficiencies in repeatable work.
2. Influence strategic direction of the Team and roadmaps of other teams that overlap in business or technical domains.
3. Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve existing processes and procedures, within their region and propagate globally where necessary.
4. Drive engineering processes to improve operational excellence with customer interaction, development methodology, and collaboration with other teams.
5. Identify areas of growth for the team, including resource requirements and gaps, and establish a clear growth plan and development strategy for each team member.
6. Drive strategic communication and provide a technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned Region.

A day in the life

Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
2. 3+ cumulative years of experience managing an engineering team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to identify high performance and lead a group of high-powered engineers
2. Organized with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget
3. Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, and maintain high quality standards
4. Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
5. Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects
