  • The Key Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, increasing market share, and enhancing customer satisfaction and retention.
  • This role involves managing strategic relationships with key clients, executing sales strategies, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customized solutions that meet client needs.
Position Title: Key Account Manager (CHEMICAL TRADING Industry) Responsible to / Report to: Head of Sales & Marketing Key Responsibilities Account Management
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key clients.
  • Act as the principal contact for key accounts, addressing needs and resolving issues to ensure client satisfaction.
Sales Strategy Execution
  • Implement targeted sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue goals for key accounts.
  • Explore and capitalize on opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts.
Client Retention and Satisfaction
  • Maintain high client satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Schedule and conduct periodic reviews with clients to evaluate performance and identify areas for service enhancement.
Contract Negotiation
  • Lead negotiations and manage contract renewals with key clients to foster mutually beneficial agreements.
Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics for key accounts.
  • Provide updates to senior management regarding account status, challenges, and progress.
Customer Payment
  • Oversee account receivables, ensuring timely collections in collaboration with the credit control and Accounts Receivable teams.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Partner with marketing, technical support, and other departments to fulfill client requirements effectively.
  • Promote a unified approach to client management across the company.
Reporting
  • Generate detailed reports on account activity, budget achievements, and customer payments.
  • Provide insights into sales forecasts, pipeline analysis, and potential business risks or opportunities.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in English, Malay, and Chinese.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the business-to-business chemical industry, with a minimum of 3-4 years in a key account management role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of chemicals and the key account management process.
  • Proven track record in handling international clients and cross-border transactions.
  • Expertise in sales planning and forecasting.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales targets and expand client accounts.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strategic thinker with robust analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a quarterly basis.
