We currently have an opening for a Development Lead to join our growing team of happy, busy, opinionated (in the best way), motivated individuals who are committed to delivering exciting new things and delivering them together. The primary focus of this role is to lead our Backend Development team. You will support the team in their work while also having the ability to ‘get your hands dirty’ and lead from the front when required. You will assist the CTO in reviewing the tools and technologies that your team use, to ensure currency and feed into the Technology roadmap for prioritising upgrades. In addition to mentoring and supporting your teams’ professional development, you will also keep up to speed to with our various projects – assisting with scoping, estimation, delivery, and troubleshooting issues/incidents as required. You will lead our Development Community of Practice, regularly facilitating knowledge sharing sessions and showcases with the wider technology teams. Ideally you will be:
- Able to work within Agile development environments, especially Kanban, Scrum and Lean methodologies
- Passionate about software development with a track record in delivery
- A people focused person with natural leadership abilities
- Confident and experienced in mentoring others in development techniques and practices
- A strong communicator with proven problem-solving skills
- Excellent with your time management and prioritisation of tasks
- At least 2 years’ proven experience in leading people
- Solid Java development experience using the Spring framework
- Experience in building and utilising modern RESTFul APIs
- Knowledge and experience of AWS and working with CI/CD development pipelines
- Experience with Redis, ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL or similar data platforms
- Experience with Hibernate
- Keen interest and experience with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
