Lead Offshore Construction Engineer (Hookup)

((BST: 8:00 - 18:00 (Mon/Thurs) 8:00 - 16:00 (Fri))) We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Offshore Construction Engineer (Hookup activities) to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas offshore construction, with a focus on hookup operations. The role will involve leading a team of engineers and overseeing the offshore construction activities to ensure the successful hookup of offshore facilities. Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of offshore construction engineers to ensure the successful execution of hookup activities.
Develop and implement hookup strategies and plans in coordination with project management and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team for resolving construction-related issues and challenges.
Collaborate with offshore construction contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Monitor and report on the progress of offshore construction activities, identifying any potential risks or delays and implementing corrective actions.
Participate in HSE audits and inspections to ensure that all offshore construction activities adhere to safety and environmental regulations.
Contribute to the development and improvement of offshore construction procedures, standards, and best practices.
Interface with project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory authorities, and internal teams, to provide construction-related updates and address any concerns or inquiries.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, civil, or offshore engineering.
Proven experience in offshore construction engineering, with a focus on hookup operations in the oil and gas industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team of engineers.
In-depth knowledge of offshore construction practices, procedures, and regulations, particularly in the Abu Dhabi region.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address construction challenges and optimize hookup activities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
Familiarity with HSE standards and practices in offshore construction, with a commitment to promoting a safety-focused work environment.
Project management skills with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize construction activities to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Professional certifications or memberships in relevant engineering associations or societies would be an advantage.

	<li>In-depth technical knowledge of electrical equipment like transformers, synchronous motors and generator, induction motors, HV/ LV switchgears, AC /DC UPS, variable speed drives, SCADA, Cables etc.</li>
	<li>In-depth knowledge of equipment sizing (transformer, generator, solar system etc.), illumination level calculation, earthing calculation, lightning protection assessment, cable sizing and battery sizing etc</li>
	<li>Experience in generating the engineering deliverable like equipment specifications, data sheets, drawings like Single Line Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, layouts (equipment layout, cable routing, lighting, earthing/ lightning protection), Cable Schedules, Cable Drum Schedules, and Interconnection Schedule, and bulk MTO.</li>
	<li>Shall be familiar with industry codes, standards and practices, such as IEC, IEEE, BS etc......</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

	<li>To have single - point responsibility for all mechanical equipment engineering (static equipment) design deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client&#39;s policies and procedures</li>
	<li>Provide input to the preparation of Technical Work Practices (TWP&#39;s) and Standards</li>
	<li>Coordination of Mechanical team and reporting to Project or Engineering Manager on project related matters</li>
	<li>Supporting the Planning, scheduling and execution of discipline activities and deliverables, including manhour estimating and schedule preparation to support bid / tendering as required.</li>
	<li>Manage discipline work to the required schedule and manpower allocation, including requesting personnel as identified by the plan, and day-to-day supervision of discipline personnel on the project. This includes approval of timesheets, holiday approval and overtime approval where delegated.</li>
	<li>Manage and report progress of all Mechanical engineering and design budgets in line with contract requirements including weekly and cumulative productivity.</li>
	<li>To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and / or quality and recommend corrective actions as required</li>
	<li>To attend weekly internal and external progress meetings and generate status reports for the Engineering / Project Manager</li>
	<li>To ensure all team members are competency assessed and maintain the competency of the team in line with company and Client requirements</li>
	<li>Define minimum acceptance criteria and Undertake pre qualification of third parties</li>
	<li>Liaise and engage with Licensors, Equipment Vendors and OEM&#39;s as required to conclude the project deliverables in accordance with the project scope and provide third party budget costs for stage gate estimates as required.</li>
	<li>Define scope of work for 3rd Party sub contracts as required.</li>
	<li>Preparation of Tender Bid Evaluations and assessment of bids</li>
	<li>Review of Vendor Documents on Detailed Engineering Projects</li>
	<li>Provide input to EPC scope of work and EPC Tender Package for EXECUTE stage</li>
	<li>To co - ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre - commissioning, and start - up to ensure there is no conflict within the overall engineering design.</li>
	<li>To provide technical support to site in terms of material inspection, Factory Acceptance Testing etc</li>
	<li>Ensure compliance with management of change processes both technical and financial</li>
	<li>To provide direction and guidance on technical queries relating to mechanical engineering and raise appropriate EQ&#39;s / deviations</li>
	<li>To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary</li>
	<li>To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule</li>
	<li>To liaise with the Client&#39;s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion whilst ensuring that the project is concluded within the boundary of the technical scope.</li>
	<li>Take ownership for Risk Identification, Assessment, Mitigation, Monitoring and Close Out for your respective discipline.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES</p>

	<li>Minimum 20 experience in construction management and execution of major upstream Oil & Gas projects, of which a minimum of twelve years experience as construction manager or leadership roles with proven track record for offsite assignments in upstream projects</li>

Below are more details about the role.<br><br>RESPONSIBILITIES<br><br><ul> <li>Continuous promotion of, and adherence to, the discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement</li> <li>Support the development and delivery of the technical assurance framework</li> <li>Monitor compliance with competence standards</li> <li>Participate in incident investigations as required</li> <li>Set performance expectations for direct reports</li> <li>Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development</li> <li>Provide discipline support to the business</li> <li>Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realized</li> <li>Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation</li> <li>Proficient in scope definition</li> <li>Be part of PMT client team overseeing EPC contractors</li> <li>Oversee Piping Engineering work being carried out by EPC contractors for major greenfield and brownfield projects as part of the Clients PMT</li> <li>Promote effective communication and challenge within the EPC Contractors Engineering team in order to foster the production of safe, cost effective, fit for purpose and constructible Piping designs</li> <li>Provide technical leadership and decision making for Piping engineering work carried out by the EPC contractors</li> <li>To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary</li> <li>To provide technical assistance, direction, and support during the construction and installation activities</li> <li>To liaise and report to the Client's Senior Management on Piping Engineering Progress and Issues</li> <li>Trouble - shooting the Piping design, identifying and resolving issues with engineering and / or fabricator by raising and resolution of Site / Technical Queries</li> <li>To attend daily / weekly engineering progress meetings and generate status reports as required</li> <li>Management of Change process including review of proposals</li> <li>Assist construction personnel with general technical queries and details</li> <li>Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees </li> <li>Provides resolution for technical Piping engineering problems, coordinates application of solutions</li> <li>To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the piping discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements</li> </ul><br><br>QUALIFICATIONS<br><br><ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC region</li> <li>Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position in a mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects</li> <li>Offshore experience is must, whilst ADNOC experience is desired.</li> <li>Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software</li> <li>Experience of working in a multi - project / multi - disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects</li> <li>Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage</li> </ul>',

Below are more details about the role.<br><br>RESPONSIBILITIES<br><br><ul> <li>Work with a team of engineers, designers and delivering the civil, structural design calculations & drawings within stipulated time</li> <li>Good analysis knowledge of In-place, Preservice, Spectral Fatigue, Seismic, Pushover and Jacket Mating for Fixed Platform structures and In-place, Lifting, Transit and Blast condition of offshore Structures</li> <li>Provided guidance/instruction to engineers for various secondary/miscellaneous calculation and designers for detailing/drawing</li> <li>Preparation of specifications for design basis report, soil investigation in line with Project requirements</li> <li>Cross functional teamwork for optimizing the layouts & general arrangement of structures, vendor drawings / foundation loads of the structures and for resolving the interference issues</li> <li>Engineering co-ordination with other departments, projects team & site team for inputs or comments on civil & structural drawings prior to submission to client for approval</li> <li>Technical discussions with Sub Contractor consultants for review & approve the drawing and design calculations</li> <li>Hands on experience in industry software 3D Model Review Tools (SPR & Navis Works), MS Office Suite, etc.</li> <li>Review of geotechnical report and interpretation of soil parameters for the analysis and design of shallow, pile foundations</li> <li>Participation in the project co-ordination meetings with the site, vendors, review consultants and client to resolve the technical issues.
