Guided by its eleven elected Trustees, WRDSB strives for excellence, ensuring the success and well-being of every student through forward-looking teaching and learning practices.The Waterloo Region District School Board is passionate about serving and empowering its students to thrive in an ever-evolving world, and it is within this context that the Board invites nominations and applications for the role of Executive Manager, IT Digital and Transformation (CIO). This position will have a lasting impact on the future of the organization and broader communities.Reporting to the Associate Director and with responsibility for the Information Technology Services (ITS) unit, the CIO plays a pivotal role in the organization as the information technology lead. Among other responsibilities, the CIO will support the implementation of the WRDSB Strategic Plan and IT Strategy, advance the work of the Project Management Office, oversee system-level projects, manage ITS departmental finances, lead and support effective Data Governance and maintain effective communication across IT Services and with the Board's senior leadership team. They will collaborate with other departments on audit recommendations, establish and uphold security protocols for corporate and employee privacy, and manage responses to complex data privacy and cybersecurity issues. Active participation in provincial school board associations to share information and enhance IT operations security and efficiency is also a key aspect of the position under the purview of the CIO. The alignment of the work in this role is to support improved outcomes around Student Achievement and Well-being.QualificationsAmong the qualifications being sought in candidates, the incoming leader must have a deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its forms and must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility. A key area of focus for the WRDSB is the engagement of student, family, and community partnerships as the organization works to improve outcomes for all learners, especially those most marginalized. The ideal candidate will have a strong solutions-based, innovative approach. While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to the WRDSB environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are seen as possible markers of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role:Several years of experience as a senior IT leader, specifically with experience in the areas of strategic planning, strategic plan implementation, project management, and change management;Expertise in managing and implementing protocols for data governance, information security, and data privacy;Experience in and/or a strong appreciation for enhancing student learning, staff collaboration, and community engagement through information technology;A history of delivering excellent work within the information technology field and a reputation for being a proactive and results-oriented leader;An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Business, or equivalent years of progressively senior experience, with a certification in cybersecurity and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset;Evidence of exceptional communication skills, strong relationship-building skills, and a natural inclination towards self-reflection.How to ApplyThe Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is committed to equity in employment.
