Job SummaryAre you a dynamic leader with a passion for community and event management? The Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association is looking for a General Manager to oversee our operations and manage a range of activities and events.
In this role, you'll play a key part in coordinating our initiatives and fostering community engagement. The General Manager will work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans, manage organizational finances, and build relationships with key stakeholders to have a concentrated focus on the vision to be a diverse community leader in the areas of agriculture, entertainment & culture to ensure the participation and education of future generations in the Southwest.
Duties & Responsibilities - of this role include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the overall operations and management of Swift Current Ag & Ex.
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational goals
Coordinate and lead the planning and execution of agricultural events and activities.
Develop & ,manage event budgets, timelines, and schedules
Manage financial resources, budgets, and funding sources.
Proficient in completing and submitting grant applications
Foster relationships with stakeholders, including sponsors, exhibitors, vendors, and community partners.
Engage with the community and stakeholders to enhance brand awareness and engagement with Event Manager Executive and Director Leads.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
Ensure compliance with all internal policies, bylaws and best practices.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the team members.
Manage event budgets, timelines, and schedules.
Manage Sponsorship
Manage recruitment, training and required staff development to enhance the workings of all Ag & Ex Events
Lead all communication, meetings and activities of the Board of Directors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must possess good decision-making skills with the ability to react well to high-pressure situations and tight timelines. Must be very well organized and able prioritize tasks quickly and effectively
Experience working with non-profit organizations and associated Board of Directors
Understanding, experience, and appreciation of fairs, festivals and events, and the cultural, social, and economic benefits they bring to communities
Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational, public relations, communication, project management, strategic planning, leadership and supervisory skills
Event management skills with experience in a variety of event types (trade shows, entertainment, educational shows, agricultural, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers
Ability to take initiative be proactive, work independently and accomplish projects with little supervision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to synthesize and effectively share a wide range of information. Ability to speak to large audiences, small groups and people of all ages.
Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff and government, elected officials, consultants, contractors, community groups and public
Ability to deal with high levels of stress and be able to make quick decisions.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, with strong skills in the use of computers, including Word, Access, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, Quick books, Microsoft Front Page, ia Proficiency in on-line media, Facebook, etc.
Preference will be given to an individual with an agricultural background, event management and marketing.
Attend Board meetings. & Committee meetings
Change of work schedule / venue, as necessary, during events.
Pushing, crouching, bending, kneeling and reaching, daily stair climbing.
Office environment with occasional exposure to animals in action, noise, dust, fumes, gases, odours, animal dander, and changes in temperature.
Other duties as assigned
Must be able to relate effectively to a wide range of people, personalities and demographics
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,000.00-$68,000.00 per year
