Company Description The School Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors to the school, parents, staff, and children. As the ‘face’ of the school, the receptionist should be welcoming, personable, helpful, and able to represent the School in a professional and friendly manner. In addition, it is essential that the person for this role is organized, able to multitask, work flexibly, and have a ‘can do’ approach to work. The receptionist is also required to assist the school's secretary with various administrative tasks, requiring a good level of IT skills. Job Description The German International School Dubai is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Account/Cost Controller to join our finance team. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health and efficiency of our institution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, team leadership, and a deep understanding of cost control practices. Experience in setting up and managing ERP systems is essential. Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Oversee and manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare and manage the annual budget and monthly forecasting. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Cost Control: Implement and maintain effective cost control systems. Analyze cost structures and ensure cost efficiency across all departments.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for senior management and the board of directors.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and standards. Manage audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance department.
  • ERP System Setup and Management: Set up, implement, and manage the school's ERP system to streamline financial operations and reporting. Ensure the system is fully integrated and utilized effectively by the finance team.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting accuracy.
  • Strategic Planning: Support the development and execution of the school’s strategic financial plan. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an educational institution or similar environment.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German is highly beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and cost control practices.
  • Extensive experience in setting up and managing ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
Additional Information We offer a pleasant working environment within a motivated team. The employment contract is limited in accordance with the UAE Labour Law.
